WRC Monthly Meeting
April 7, 2024

1. The meeting was called to order by Kevin Folley, President at 10:00 AM
2. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited
3. The Treasurer Tom Goss reported that there is $146.36 in cash and that
there is $3,640.49 in the checking account making a total of $3,786.85 in the
treasury
4. The Secretary Roy Pierce read the notes of the March meeting to refresh
the members of business discussed at that meeting
5. The Secretary also brought up that he had read an article in the AMA news
that the FAA had visited an AMA, FRIA approved field in Connecticut. The
FAA checked on whether members there had their FAA numbers attached
to their UAV’s and whether their members had their TRUST certificates with
them.
6. This is just a reminder that even though we have a FRIA certified field, the
FAA can show up and make sure that all flyers are following the FAA rules.
Also remember, as of March 16, 2024, if you are not flying at a FRIA
certified field you must have an FAA registered transponder on your
UAV/Drone/RC Aircraft.
7. TRUST tests can be taken on the AMA website for free. The certificate can
be printed out after passing the test. The FAA requires that you have a
TRUST certificate with you when flying any UAV/Drone/RC Aircraft.
8. The Secretary brought up the fact that two of our paid members have not
renewed their AMA membership as of this date. Just a reminder that to fly
at our field, you must have a current AMA membership. They provide our
and your liability insurance.
9. Discussion ensued as to when the Spring Barbeque was to be held. It was
decided that and voted on that it will be June 2 nd . More discussion and
planning will be done at the May 5 th meeting.
10. Discussion then moved on to an Open House/Fly-in event. It was decided
that it would be held on May 18 th (rain date of May 19 th ) from 10:00 AM to 3
PM. There would be advertising done in the Daily Sun newspaper (Tony
Rossi will take care of that) and on our website and on Facebook (Steve
Caswell will take care of that). The club previously voted to make banners
and signs to be printed and would be placed on the corners of the roads
leading to the field on those days.
11. It was brought up that a raffle should be held and for the winner to receive
a Ready to Fly RC aircraft. This will help draw in new members/new flyers.
An inexpensive RTF electric aircraft could be purchased for around
$165.00. Possibly we could find someone who would donate one.
12. Questions were asked as to when the NO FLY dates at the field were to be
for this year. The NO FLY date are due to events being held by our landlord
holding their events. Roy Pierce was asked to contact the landlord to find

out those dates. He will then send out and email and also post those dates
at the entrance to the field.
13. The meeting was adjourned at 10:55 AM.
