Winnipesaukee Radio Controllers
Meeting Minutes
Sunday June 2, 2024
1. The balance of all monies as reported by the Treasurer is $3,259.92.
2. The membership present greeted our newest junior member, nine year old
Travis Day. It was brought to the club’s attention that Travis is a brand new
flyer and that he was able to take off, fly, and land his new plane at our field
on his first time ever flying. His only previous experience was flying with a
computer program on his computer.
3. Next on the agenda was the proposed RC Auto Track. The area had been
mowed and raked in the southwest corner of the field. It is thought that this
will bring more new members to the club’s rolls. It was discussed that we
could line the track with flexible drainage tubing. That there would have to
be a safety fence installed to protect spectators and that there would have
to be a platform to raise the racers up high enough to see the back side of
the track. This platform would probably have to be at least 2 ft high off of
the ground.
4. The construction of the RC auto track was proposed and seconded. There
was a unanimous vote.
5. Next it was proposed and seconded that $300.00 be spent on the tubing
and fencing for the new RC race track. It also passed by a unanimous vote.
6. Next it was brought up that should be another Open House/Learn to Fly
Day event run. (Due to poor weather conditions, the last one was not a
great success) It was suggested that it be on a Saturday sometime after the
Fourth of July Holiday. Tentatively, July 20 th or 21 st . Tony Rossi will take
care of advertising for that date in the Laconia newspaper. The new
banners will be placed out on Rte 106 on the day of the event.
7. Next on the agenda was the printing of raffle tickets to raffle off the two
beginner Aero Scout RTF Airplanes that were purchased earlier for the
Open House Day. It was voted and passed that there be 100 tickets printed
up and that they be sold for $5.00 each or five tickets for $20.00. Jay Massie
is taking care of the ticket printing. The drawing will be held on Labor Day.
8. After the meeting Brian DeNutte Vice President of the Fairgrounds
Association showed up to see what was going on with the grass cutting in
the southwest corner of the field. He told us that we would have to ask
permission to continue with the RC Track project.
9. There will be letter sent out this week to the President of the Belknap
County Fairgrounds Association (Earl Leighton) asking for the permission
to proceed.
10. Next month’s meeting will be held on the second Sunday of July or July
14th due to the long Fourth of July weekend.
11. Below are photos of the proposed RC Track area.
