Winnipesaukee Radio Controllers
Meeting Minutes
Sunday July 14, 2024
1. The President formally opened the meeting 10:00 AM.
2. The members recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.
3. The Secretary immediately informed the group that the flag is now lit at
night by a donated solar powered LED light. (6 hours of sunlight provides 8
hours of light on the flag).
4. The Treasurer was not able to attend the meeting but had forwarded the
check book balance to the Secretary. The balance in the check book is
$3,399.91.
5. The Secretary reported that there are now 43 paid members and one
Lifetime Member.
6. The meeting was opened up to discussion about the proposed RC Auto
Race-Track. The diagram of the proposed race-track was present and laid
out on the table.
7. First, there was discussion about the proposed safety fence that was on
the drawing. Concern was brought up about its close proximity to the end
of the airplane runway.
8. It was decided to not have that safety fence in that area but to definitely
include a six foot high safety fence back along the tree-line to protect the
occupants at the race-track picnic tables.
9. Additionally, it was decided that there would be no auto racing and flying at
the same time. Flying hours would be from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Auto
Racing would be from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Flying hours would again start
at 6:00 PM to dark.
10. Then it was asked that if flyers who are there at their allotted time would
permit it, could time be shared in half hour allotments between the flyers
and the racers. This idea was considered acceptable.
11. Next, it was brought up that all racers must be at least AMA Park Flyer
members. However, if they should decide to start flying they would have to
upgrade their AMA membership to full membership. (Park Flyers are
insured up to $250,000 per incident, while full memberships are insured up
to $2,500,000 per incident).
12. Finally, it was discussed if there should be a lower WRC membership dues
for people and families who only race and do not fly. There were a lot of pro
and cons brought up. It was decided to bring this item forward to the next
meeting.
13. The Secretary and Member Jay Massie will meet with the Fairgrounds
Board on Tuesday evening and hopefully receive final approval of the RC
Auto Race-Track.
14. Freddy Foster said that he has two 12 ft by 6 ft pressure treated dock
sections that he will donate to the club. One to be used as a raised deck
for racers to stand on. The other to be used as preparation and work-table
for the racers to use. He will need volunteers to help him move these to the
field as they are very heavy. He will ask members for help via emails.
15. The meeting was suspended at 10:50 AM.
