The Winnipesaukee Radio Controllers

Monthly Meeting Notes
Sunday April 6, 2025

1. The meeting was called to order at 10:10 AM after some problems with the Zoom
Meeting connections.
2. The Treasurer’s report was given; at the start of March the checkbook total was
$4,197.19. There was $13.00 in income over the month. There was $155.00 in
expenses during the month. The $155.00 was a check written to the Secretary for
re-imbursement for $130.00 paid to AMA for club membership and insurance. The
remaining $25.00 was for re-imbursement for the 5-year State of New Hampshire
registration of Nonprofit Organizations Report.
3. The Secretary reported that there are now 40 paid members for the year. There
are 12 listed unpaid members on the rolls. There is one lifetime member and there
are 3 interested parties.
4. The changes made to the Flying Field and Racetrack rules suggested at the March
meeting were discussed. It was further discussed that there should be a rule for
potential new members. This would be how we could show potential new
members the art and excitement of the hobby before they made a commitment to
join both the club and AMA. AMA of course providing the required insurance
needed to fly at our field.
5. It was decided that the only way we could accomplish this would be through the
use of a “Buddy Box” arrangement. There would have to be a trainer with a master
controller and the potential member using a Buddy Box sub controller. The trainer
being in control and bearing the insurance risk.
6. The Secretary will write up the new rule and insert it into the existing rules. At the
May meeting all of the new rule changes will be looked over and voted on.
7. Fred Foster brought up the need for Grub Ex to be spread on the field. The Grubs
did considerable damage to the field last year and attracted skunks to the field. He
was told that the best time to spread the Grub Ex is when the temperature of the
ground gets up to 55*F. He recieved a price from a contractor last year to do the
work. He will look him up and get another price again this year. If the price is too
high, then we can purchase the chemical and do the job with volunteers.
8. Fred also brought up that we need some loam delivered so as to fill in some holes
on the back side of the runway. Again, some volunteers will be needed to spread
this new loam.
9. One last thing is the need to roll the runway with the heavy power roller. At the
moment the ground is too soft to do this. It will need to be looked at probably in
June.
10. Finally, the Secretary was asked to send out one last request to the 12 unpaid
members to pay their dues before being dropped from the rolls and before we
change the gate code. All paid members will be notified when the gate code is
changed in May.
